Gisborne-Hawkes Bay
The area from Gisborne in the North down to Hawkes Bay and Napier further south, can be fruitful with a good variety of species and generally a longer season than further north. Game fish and large yellow fin tuna and blue marlin are well represented although you may need to travel a little further out. Well worth it.

Gisborne
Located right in the heart of Gisborne city, Eastland Port is New Zealand’s second largest log exporter and the most easterly commercial shipping port in New Zealand. A jumping off point to some great reef structure not too far out.
Hawkes Bay
A busy commercial port, with some very interesting reef structure not far from the coast. Port Ahuriri is a picturesque inner harbour of Napier, with its fleet of commercial fishing trawlers lining the historic wharves alongside the road that passes around the West Quay waters edge.
