We chose the name Sails Ashore Lodge to reflect the close relationship the Island enjoys with the sea. Overlooking Halfmoon Bay and the islands of Foveaux Straits beyond Sails Ashore Boutique Lodge is a short 4 minutes stroll from the village waterfront, set in a private native and flower garden. Guests enjoy their own wing, each room with a private entrance.

Seabreeze Cottage is peaceful beachfront accommodation set in a one acre garden at Horseshoe Bay. Comfortable two bedroom cottage with gas heating and a large living area overlooking the garden and beach.

Our roomy, warm and comfortable units include full kitchen and bathroom facilities, king-size and single beds and a spacious living, dining/kitchen area.

Stewart Island Backpackers is conveniently situated in the heart of Halfmoon Bay, we offer friendly, comfortable and clean accommodation at competitive prices. We also have a camping area! Brilliant if you’re going on one of the walks around the Island including one of New Zealand’s Great Walks; the Rakiura Track.

Stewart Island Lodge is an up-market bed & breakfast nestled in native bush on Stewart Island. Located just five minutes walk from the island’s village, the lodge is private and secluded with commanding views across Halfmoon Bay and Foveaux Strait.

The House on Kamahi is located on “Dress Circle” with amazing views of Halfmoon Bay, fishing boats at anchor, Foveaux Strait and the offshore islands.

Treehouse Crib is a warm, sunny family holiday home with great views of sea, bush and birds. 8 minute walk to village and 4 minutes to Golden Bay beach and wharf for water taxi to Ulva Island, Paterson Inlet etc.

Church Hill food is all about Stewart Island and Southland and that is something we don’t need to apologise for, after all, we are surrounded by some of the best produce in the world.

Our beautiful location amongst beautiful native bush enables guests to unwind in peace and quiet, while Stewart Island’s restaurants, shops and main attractions are but a 5-7 minute walk away. Kaka Retreat is the perfect base for the single traveller, couples, families and groups alike. We can cater for groups up to 14 people who require a bed each and if couples are in the mix we can of course cater for more than 14.

Our Restaurant and Pub encompasses the entire first floor of the main hotel building. While locally sourced seafood is our focus, options can be found for those of all tastes.

For our guests every supper is a Perfect Dinner. Celebrated at the dining table in the spacious lounge, enjoy gourmet meals and fine wines, featuring fresh local seafoods with home grown vegetables and herbs.
