(formerly East Cape)
Travelling east along the coast is some of the most remote and stunning coastline found in New Zealand. Friendly locals and plenty of charter opportunities, although the further east you go, accommodation becomes limited. Many inshore species and fantastic game varieties not far out. A warm current close to the coast with deep water ensure an area noted for big yellow fin Tuna.
Travelling past Te Kaha and Waihou Bay, you find an area steeped in Maori history.
Well worth taking your time to appreciate your surroundings.
Past Cape Runaway, along a very windy road to Hicks Bay, then the coast road through local communities all the way to Gisborne.
