Taranaki (New Plymouth)
A somewhat unforgiving coastline, but with a good abundance of snapper, trevally and gurnard. Port Taranaki (New Plymouth) has a number of respected Charter operators to suit all budgets. It’s also an area well suited for the hardy surfcasters with many access points. The harbour is centrally located on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island and is the only deep water seaport on this part of the western seaboard. It’s reputably home of really big snapper.
